Relentless 3/11 report

Well, March has successfully crept up on us, which means it's time to keep those fingers crossed for an early cobia run inshore. Currently, the inshore waters are too dirty and too cold for the cobia. But, the weather for the start of the month is looking good, keeping the hope alive. There were a few of the brown bombers caught in February, mostly on the reefs and wrecks from 75ft out to 120ft. As always, the cobia should have a tough time turning down a frisky livey or a jig tipped with squid. The bottom bite remained good to excellent, and with the right conditions it should stay that way through March. Make sure to fill the livewell with a variety of pinfish, sardines or cigar minnows to increase your odds of getting on that bite of the year. As water clarity improves on the 75ft to 90ft reefs, kingfish and cobia should be a good bet on the slow troll. With any luck, late in the month, those green and yellow acrobats may make an appearance. Along with the dolphin, expect the occasional sail or wahoo to crash the party. Don't forget, March 31st is the end of lobster season. If you can stand the chill and minimal visability, go get those last chance crawdads. If the March winds don't keep everyone at the dock, there's plenty of possibilities waiting. See you on the pond!
