Opening day of grouper season had the seas running 3′-5′, so it wasn’t a day for the timid. The Kirkland party was up to the task and chomping at the bit to get some grouper. Managed to capture three gags, including a 40.6 lber to take the lead in the Johnny Longfish Year Long Captains Tournament. We also threw back several large snapper and managed to catch a limit of nice amberjack.
